Dogue de Bordeaux - French Mastiff

The Dogue de Bordeaux or French Mastiff or known among fanciers simply as DDB is of ancient lineage. It is thought to be a descendant of the Molossus dogs brought to Europe by the ancient Romans. A Dogue de Bordeaux is a friendly, affectionate dog, but because it is highly attuned to its surroundings, it makes an excellent watchdog and guard. This is a very large dog, the most prominent feature being its large wrinkled head and powerful jaw. It is obvious why the athletic DDB is the national watchdog of France.
