The Pointer is known for ‘pointing’ its nose and tail in the direction of the game for the hunter. Originally of Spanish/Italian descent, the British improved the breed’s concentration, speed, stamina and scenting ability by crossing various hounds and setters with it. A Pointer is an even-tempered, obedient dog, good with children, loyal and devoted to its family. It is an active hunting dog, agile and graceful with the need for regular outdoor exercise.
